National honor society for religious studies

Theta Alpha Kappa SealTheta Alpha Kappa, founded in 1975 at Manhattan University, seeks to honor and encourage excellence in research, teaching, publication and thoughtful exchange among students of religious studies and theology. Since the society was founded, there have been more than 150 chapters of Theta Alpha Kappa established in the United States and Canada. Theta Alpha Kappa publishes a biannual scholarly journal to promote academic work in religious studies or theology. The society also hosts an annual meeting, and awards scholarships and prizes.

Eligibility

To qualify for membership, undergraduates must have:

  • 15 credits in religious studies courses and a B+ average in those courses
  • a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
